With Valentine’s Day in sight, join us for a 'Heart to Heart' with Nicola Vivian on Fri, 7 Feb over breakfast. Nicola is the author of recently published memoir My Will (A Portrait of Love and Addiction) which received critical acclaim from the likes of author/mental health campaigner Ruby Wax, who described her book as ‘A great journey – and so harrowing’, and TV presenter Anne Robinson who called her memoir ‘A tale of our times’.
Nicola has dedicated the past 30 years to writing her memoir. She now spends much of her time giving talks, mainly on relationships, and also works as an energy healer (something she feels blessed to have been doing for the past 20 years). She says:
‘Relationships are what make the world turn around. How we relate to others, money, our animals and ourselves affects every choice we make, every behaviour and its consequences and the ups and downs of our mental health. Once the relationship with ourselves is healthy, co-dependence, unhappy relationships, addiction, depression, anxiety and such like, will gradually dissipate.’
Nicola will chat about her life growing up co-dependent to an alcoholic father, then later to an addict boyfriend, and discuss the normalisation of bad behaviour which breeds co-dependence. She'll unravel how she learned to love co-dependently. It seems that her experiences are common themes and resonate with vast swathes of the population.
Understanding oneself, Nicola thinks, is the first step on the road to recovery, and she invites you to share your stories with her. ‘We are wired to connect’ she says in her book, ‘and in a safe environment connecting to others is medicinal to our mental wellbeing.’
In her own words Nicola ‘champions mental health, healthy relationships, talking about stuff, making life better, encouraging others.’
Join this wonderful lady for a heart-warming morning full of love, light and soul-searching.
