Qigong is a wonderful practice that can help support our immune system and prepare the body for the colder months ahead. It works by strengthening Wei Qi (the body’s defensive energy) and supporting the regulation of the neuroendocrine system, helping to promote immune function, reduce inflammation and improve lymphatic circulation.
In traditional Chinese medicine, Wei Qi helps protect the body from external pathogens. Research suggests that regular Qigong practice may also support immune function, including antibody responses and T-cell activity. To prepare for winter, our practice will focus on the kidneys, associated with the Water element and vitality and the lungs, associated with the Metal element and respiratory defence.
Through gentle movements and deep breathing, we will work to nourish these organ systems, conserve energy and support the body’s natural processes. The session will focus on building kidney reserves to help sustain us through the colder months.
We will work towards strengthening our Wei Qi, supporting the lungs and conserving Jing (essence), helping us feel more grounded, balanced and resilient as winter approaches.
Open to all levels. No previous Qigong experience is necessary.
