A Mindfulness & Equine Retreat
By private arrangement
A private overnight retreat at Bingham Riverhouse, built around a 1:1 session with Operation Centaur - Europe's foremost centre of equine-assisted psychotherapy, whose therapeutic herd in Richmond Park has drawn international acclaim.
An hour with horses can shift something profound. What makes it last is everything around it - the slow walk there through meadow and parkland, the house that holds you after, the night to let it settle. Every element is shaped around you.
This retreat is for anyone who senses the need to pause — to step back from the busyness of doing and remember the quiet strength of simply being. It is ideal for those navigating life transitions, seeking to process trauma or emotional fatigue, or wishing simply to feel more deeply and move more slowly. No prior experience with horses, yoga, or meditation is required.
Horses don't care about your title, your reputation, or your carefully managed self. They respond only to what is actually present - and they mirror it back, instantly and without judgement.
That is why equine therapy works where talking sometimes can't. There is nothing to explain, nothing to perform. You simply stand with the horse, and what is real begins to surface. For people who spend their lives being capable for others, it is often the first honest hour they've had in years.
This is not riding, and no horse experience is needed. Operation Centaur's approach - founded in 2005 and led entirely by clinical psychologists and psychotherapists - is grounded in over twenty years of evidence-based practice.
Day One — Arrive for a seasonal lunch by the river. Your 1:1 forest bathing walk through Petersham Meadows leads you to Richmond Park, where the horses await. Your private 1:1 Equine Assisted Therapy session follows. Then back to the house for rest, infrared sauna or ice bath, and a light supper.
Day Two — Private morning yoga, a relaxed closing breakfast with your facilitators, and departure by midday — with an optional sound bath in the garden before you go.
