Entrepreneur's Breakfast with Mark Ormrod

Friday 19th June | 9am - 10.30am

Join us for an inspiring morning designed to nourish entrepreneurial minds at our monthly Entrepreneurs’ Breakfast Series.

What does it really take to rebuild - not just a body, but a life, a purpose, a reason to keep going?

This month, we welcome Mark Ormrod MBE: former Royal Marines Commando, author, and Britain's most decorated Invictus Games athlete - for a conversation about resilience, mental strength, and what it means to define your own limits.

Mark's life changed forever on Christmas Eve 2007, when he became the UK's first triple amputee of the Afghan conflict. What followed was a story not of survival alone, but of relentless reinvention - walking again, competing at the highest level, raising hundreds of thousands for veterans, and being awarded an MBE for services to the Armed Forces and Veteran Community.

His message is disarmingly direct: choose who you listen to. Back yourself. Set the next goal. For any entrepreneur who has faced a setback, a pivot, or a moment of doubt - Mark's story is a reminder of what the human spirit is capable of when it refuses to accept the ceiling others set for it.

Guests will have the opportunity to share ideas, connect and collaborate within our vibrant community of members and entrepreneurs.

Expect an uplifting and thought-provoking morning of conversation, courage and connection.

Ticket includes nourishing Riverhouse breakfast table- good for gut, mind and mood.

Mark Ormrod is an award-winning author, coach, mentor, motivational speaker and ambassador whose story of resilience and determination has inspired audiences across the world. Born and raised in Plymouth, Devon, Mark fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he joined the Royal Marines in 2001, beginning what promised to be a distinguished military career.

While serving in Afghanistan with 40 Commando Royal Marines on Christmas Eve 2007, Mark’s life changed forever when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device. The explosion resulted in the traumatic amputation of both legs and his right arm, and he was pronounced dead twice on the battlefield. Against overwhelming odds, Mark survived, becoming the first triple amputee to survive injuries sustained in combat while serving on the battlefield.

What followed was an extraordinary journey of recovery. Despite being told he would never walk again, Mark defied expectations through sheer determination, resilience and mental strength. Just 14 weeks after his injuries, he marched onto parade wearing prosthetic limbs to receive his Operational Service Medal in the presence of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh — a remarkable physical, emotional and psychological achievement.
Mark remained in the Royal Marines for a further three years as he progressed through rehabilitation and recovery. He later worked for the RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, where he helped launch its new shop, became a valued member of the Membership team and developed a highly successful social media presence for the organisation.

Known for his positivity and refusal to dwell on limitations, Mark continues to challenge himself through endurance events and fundraising initiatives supporting wounded veterans. He has also won multiple medals at the Invictus Games. Today, through his speaking, mentoring and personal example, Mark inspires thousands of people to overcome adversity, embrace challenge and realise their full potential.
